An individual who contaminated sweets with sedative and gave them to children at a summer program in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were between nine and ten.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the location in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on recently.
However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he ran.
The defendant played a "treat game" with the children, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor explained objects including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his family member contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She said the man proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative said the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson notified the authorities again.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five youngsters.
